Graduate Intern Opportunity: Autonomous Characterization at the National Laboratory of the Rockies

The National Laboratory of the Rockies (NLR) is seeking a graduate intern to work on our one-of-a-kind autonomous laser-integrated PFIB platform, combining laser-assisted sample processing with AI-driven automation in a configuration unavailable elsewhere in the U.S. research community. The role centers on building and validating computer vision pipelines, including semantic segmentation models, for real-time site identification and adaptive milling, alongside active exploration of foundation model and LLM integration for autonomous experimental decision-making.

This is a direct entry point into the broader push toward agentic, self-driving characterization workflows, and it's well suited to candidates with a materials science, physics, chemistry, or engineering background at the master's level and strong Python skills.
